DEAL OF THE MONTH
World's Grandest View
Mass tourism to the Grand Canyon started way before it became a national park: The Grand Canyon Railway first carried visitors to the 18-mile-wide Colorado River gorge in 1901. In fact, the company built most of the historic structures that still exist on the South Rim. Abandoned in 1968, the train was put back in service in 1989 and now takes passengers from Williams, Ariz., to the South Rim along a two-hour scenic route through ponderosa pine forests and the desert. The railway's package includes round-trip train travel, one night's lodging in Williams and another on the South Rim, a bus tour of the park, and a Wild West shoot-out reenactment in the Williams depot.
