DOUGLAS MACARTHUR, Little Rock, Ark.
As supreme commander of the Allied Forces in the Pacific during World War II, General Douglas MacArthur led his troops to victory over the Japanese and oversaw the surrender and postwar occupation of Japan. His father was stationed at the Little Rock Arsenal in 1880, the year MacArthur was born in the Tower Building there. The Tower Building is now home to the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, and while the museum mainly explores Arkansas's military contributions, there's a gallery dedicated to the general. 503 E.
