Boxing champion Jack Dempsey ("the Manassa Mauler") took the heavyweight title in 1919 and reigned as champ for seven years before being defeated by Gene Tunney. The one-room log cabin where he and his 10 siblings were raised is now part of the Jack Dempsey Museum and Park.
