HENRY FORD, Dearborn, Mich.
With the introduction of his Model T in 1908, inventor, engineer, and industrialist Ford transformed the way Americans lived and traveled. In 1944, Ford moved his childhood home a few miles from its original location to the Greenfield Village museum complex he created to preserve it. He set up the house as he remembered it, using items from his boyhood, like the remains of a pocket watch he'd tinkered with. 20900 Oakwood Blvd., 800/835-5237, thehenryford.org, $20. |
